Journey by train or plane to Perthshire & Angus

 

Is the long drive from the south the only issue holding you back from a holiday in Perthshire and Angus?

There are many exiting and interesting travel options, should you really want to avoid the long drive from the South.

Dundee and Perth railway stations are both served by direct Anglo / Scottish train services from London, Peterborough, Birmingham, Watford, Doncaster, Manchester, Leeds York, Newcastle as well as Glasgow and Edinburgh.

 

Option 1 - by Rail

 

1. There are 6 day weekly direct sleeper services operated by Scotrail from London Euston departing (around 2030) calling at intermediate stations via Watford, Birmingham, Crewe and Edinburgh, delivering you "bright and breezy" in Dundee or Perth for around (0700 hours) and a corresponding return evening service departing from Dundee or Perth (around 2200 hours) arriving London Euston (around 0800 hours).

2. There are also regular 7 days a week direct services operated by GNER from London Kings Cross calling at intermediate stations via, Peterborough, Doncaster, York, Leeds, Newcastle and Edinburgh to Dundee

Option 2 - by Plane

 

Edinburgh international airport (approx 1 hour car journey) taking regular service flights from most uk airports from London, Manchester, Norwich, Cardiff to Leeds / Bradord, Humberside and East Midlands with (British Airways and EasyJet)

Getting to Dundee

By Road


From Aberdeen Take the A 90 south from Aberdeen

From Edinburgh Take the M 90 north from Edinburgh. At Perth take the A 85 to Dundee.

From Glasgow Take the A 80 north, then follow the M 876 to Kincardine. After crossing the Kincardine Bridge take the A 977 north to Kinross. At Kinross, join the M 90 going north to Perth. From there take the M 85 to Dundee.

Getting to Forbes of Kingennie from Dundee

Follow the A 92 Dundee - Arbroath road for approx. 3 miles and turn off at the signposted "Kingennie and Wellbank" junction, just prior to the Dobbies Garden Centre. Forbes of Kingennie is signposted once you are off the A92, located approx 3 miles before the village of Wellbank

Alternatively, take the B 962 turning off the A 92 Dundee - Arbroath road. Before you reach Newbigging turn left onto the B 961. Forbes of Kingennie is sign posted from approx. 2 miles along this road.
