Had a lovely relaxed holiday the whistlefield Inn is good! The Cabin was very comfortable, the weather has been pretty grim, not just rain but a monsoon! But would never get fed up of the view, it's outstanding!! Thanx 4 the mince pies & shortbread! Deliciouse! Hope to see you again soon! Maybe in the summer 08! Happy new Year! All the best for 2008! Me and Glen came here for a wee break away from the hussle & bustle of our busy lives, and wow what an awesome time, we have had!! Tip go to Pucks Glen, awsome scenery it will blow you away, keep heating on when you go out...great when you get back in. Go to Quadmania and clay pidgeon shooting, great food whistlefield Inn...look at the stars! Glen and Carol Ann, Motherwell, Lanarkshire.
Always love it up here, the weather has been lovely all week, calm, dry and sunny, good for the wonderfulll views.Loved this location, it's an exellent base for the wonderfull forest walks around here. Cant't wait to come back - it's a haven. Ps the food in the Inn is great Shelli and Clive
2007 What a brilliant week we have had. The cake was lovely and welcoming. The lodge very cosy and a great place to have as a hideaway for your honey moon like us. The views everywhere are fantastic with so much to see and do. There wasnt enough time to visit everything but we will be back to visit the places missed this time. The walks and gardens are a must for all nature lovers, but good footwhere is needed. A lot of places not open yet but the museum in Dunoon let us in despite being shut...well worth a visit there. Many thanks for giving us a wonderfull honeymoon. PS The birds that visit outside our window are lovely. Great to see Robins in April Especially with all this sunshine we are having Andy and Jayne Great week, weather sunny even the midges werent too bad! Recommend a trip on the Loch nice and relaxing time. Great cake, good accommmodation. Fishing trips:- Not worth fishing Loch Eck until end of July, but worth a trip to Loch Fyne for a mackeral and to scale the shores for mussels. Went for a drive to Ardentinny very peacefull (saw a golden Eagle) Went for a walk in botanic gardens in the pouring rain not a good idea! Got lost but we did see a Red Squirrel and a Deer. Put a bird feeder outside the window & was visited by lots of birds, Robins, Blue Tits and Coal tits. Hopefully be back soon Ps Thanks for the cake Gemma and David, Nottingham Had a fantastic holiday, very relaxing, scenery breathaking, wildlife outstanding. Lodge clean & cosy, nice touch with the cake, well appreciated Mmmm Hopefully be back next year. Whistlefield Inn, good atmosphere, good food. Overall a holiday to remember. Stevie, Bernie and Rex Motherwell Had a bit of trouble finding the Cabin as arrived in the dark...but found the Cabin beyond my expectations. V clean and cosy. Slept really well with the peace and quiet. Pucks Glen is well worth a visit - if you have a short legged dog like mine they might struggle with the steps. Great holiday, although fishing has been terrible, please leave tips for when we come back!! Lisa and Rich Come over from the US for our honey moon and fell in love with Argyll. We adored Pucks Glen and the weather was amazing. The views from the bell tower in Inverary were fantastic and we cant wait to come back. Lynne and Moray Dawson Had a fab time here, my lovely boyfriend asked me to marry him while we were out on a boat in loch eck, it was so romantic. Also went to the botanic gardens which was breathtaking, we recommend going there and taking a picnic if the weathers nice. Hope you all have as good a time as we had. Love Michelle and Andrew
Had a lovely week- very peaceful. Weather has been lovely, some snow on wednesday + it rained on friday afternoon, apart from that its been dry + mostly sunny. Pucks Glen, Glenbranter (waterfalls) and benmore gardens are all lovely walks. Saw deer at the Ardnadam trail (which was a nice walk) Saw birds of prey at Ardnadam, Benmore gardens (viewpoint) and in Glen Massan. Whistlefield Inn - worth a visit - lovely + cosy!! We all had a fantastic time. The lodge was warm and cosy and very welcoming. Everyday day we did something differant. We can thoroughly recomend the following place to visit. Pucks glen - all 3 walks. The big tree walk. Dunoon they have 2 swimming pools, one is called the riverside and the other one is called hunters quay (Sky sports if you like footy) Inverary jail is worth a visit finished off with a nice drink from the George hotel. The Isle of Bute...you can travel the full island by car to take in the fantastic views, which takes around an hour. Rothesay has a tasty bistro called Brechin Brasserie. Ettrick bay has a fab tearoom, with great cakes! whistlefield Inn, excellent food...all in all we didn't want to leave.! PS. My dad thought the cake was tasty Chris, Lisa, Brandon and Morgan, Hull Thanks for the cake, it was delicious...we really enjoyed our stay in the lodge and the beautifull views from our windows. PS "Give us a call should you spot the ledgend that is halas a boat sailing down the loch Bye xxx 14/02/06 (AKA) Valentines day Our first week away together without the kids- wanted peace, relaxation and or beautiful scenery...and we got it all!! Lovely cosy lodge, perfect views over the loch and hills - even though it was cold we still sat on the balcony - why move when the views are so awsome!! Lovely walks - Pucks Glen, Glenbranter (waterfall walk was Beautifull) recommended. Drive to Oban was well worth it - scenes / views fabolous. Good food and a lovely atmosphere at the whistlefield Inn...don't want to go home - guess where our first choice to retire is??? Lodge obviously recently refurbished to very high standard - fabulous week as always despite the rain and the midges! Perry, David Hale, Cheshire Peace and Quiet just what the doctor ordered. Make sure to see the view point to the Kyles of Bute - just stunning! The cake is a very thoughfull touch was much appreciated..we are smitten John Shirley, Scarborough Had a megatime, totally feeling relaxed and rested Cabin was very comfy and cosy. The whistlefield Inn along the road was lovely. Food was great, people very friendly. Will be back for sure. Pucks Glen turn towards lower glen we did it twice and Louis loved it too. 3. Long drive to Oban but worth it. 4. Coylet Inn food and service brilliant. Thanks for the cake and the easter egg it was a lovely touch. We will be back!! Thankyou very much! scenically this is an outstanding area. The journey to Oban is wonderfull. Saw Mull, Bute Arran, the Mull of Kintyre scotlands (south west) is amazing, please provide a midge machine!! (now provided) Thanks for a great holiday Shiela and Colin, Darlington 2003 Arrive to a lovely cosy and homely cabin after 6 and a half hours journey! Nice to have coffeee and biscuits waiting! Lovely to be back here after our last visit in June 1989 (our honeymoon) this time we brought our 3 children..............an I just wanted to add I really enjoyed this holiday I hope we will come back as it is lovely here and the view is wicked. Dunoon is a very nice place I really had a fab time here I do not want to go home as we have had such a nice time despite the weather. Sharon, Del, Danielle, Michael and Sol North Yorkshire Well a complete escape from city life-despite the rain! wonderfull walks from the forestry commision, routes at pucks glen, Glenbranter and the cobbley area to the mountains......................can't wait to get back up here and "bag a few more munroes" Rich and Jen, London Arrived here saturday about 3pm, after nearly 10hour journey (from southampton) but knew straight away it was worth the journey, scenery and views just stunning....... Thankyou for letting us stay in lodge no3, we have been coming to Whistlefield lodges for the past 9 years and still enjoying it, hopefully we will still be able to come here in the future. The fly fishing is very good at Bishops Glen (permits from purdys, Argyle street, Dunnon) Greta and David Flynn Southport The peace and quiet at the lodge was occasionally broken by the birds that came to feed from the nets we put up. Spotted the following Blue tits, Coal tits, Great tits, 2 Green finches, goldfinches and chaffinches, 4/5 "terratorial" (very tame") robins, Blackbirds, The occasional sparrow, 1 Jay and 1 buzzard in the distance......It's been a lovely, quiet, beautifull, awe-inspiring winter break, the cool weather creating mountain mists I could only have imagined in picture books....and so much more to do! we shall definately be back! Views so good you don't need specs. A morning walk around Pucks Glen, to the toun in dunoon in de'night the Inns got it just right.
