Enjoy fantastic walking routes on your doorstep with forests trails and coastal paths to explore, and mountain bikers will be delighted with the nearby 7stanes. Places worth visiting include Dalbeattie (7 miles) and Scotland’s ‘Food Town’, Castle Douglas (13 miles) and ‘Artist’s Town’, Kirkcudbright (21 miles). Visit RSPB Mersehead (4 miles) or Galloway Activity Centre at Loch Ken offers a great choice of water sports and activities (23 miles). Get out on foot at Galloway Forest Park (30 miles) or tour the castles of Caerlaverock (26 miles) and Threave (14 miles).
